Average Entry Price Calculator

Calculate the weighted average entry price after multiple buys. This is useful when you add to a spot position or average into a trade over time.

Calculator

What This Calculates

Weighted average price, total cost, and total quantity.

Formula

Average entry price = total cost / total quantity

Example

If you buy 0.5 BTC at 60000 and 0.25 BTC at 56000, the total cost is 44000 and the total size is 0.75 BTC. The average entry price is 58666.67.

Notes Before You Use It

  • Include exchange fees separately when you need tax-grade precision.
  • Do not treat a lower average price as lower risk. Position size still matters.
  • For leveraged products, liquidation price and funding fees need a separate calculation.

FAQ

Is this the same as a simple average?

No. A weighted average accounts for how much you bought at each price, so larger orders affect the result more.

Should I include fees?

For quick planning, many traders calculate without fees. For records and taxes, include fees in the cost basis.

Can I use this for stocks?

Yes. The same weighted average formula works for crypto, stocks, funds, and most spot assets.
